Kerry & Eric

I’d like to introduce you all to a great couple that Guri and I met in Sacramento - Kerry & Eric. They live in Sacramento and both work for the state government. They’ve been together for about 6 years now, living together for the past 4, but neither are sure if they’re ready to take the next step in their relationship. During the weekends they like to sit at cafés reading the paper and take their two dogs, Sam and Ralph for walks in the park. So, how did we meet Kerry & Eric you might ask?

Well…we met Kerry & Eric when, desperate for food, Guri and I stopped off at Macy’s café for some breakfast. Now we all know Guri’s name isn’t the easiest to understand at first for a native English speaker, but she has toned it down for the American audience and says it the way I do for ease of comprehension. For fear of seeing a 16 year old girl’s head explode when I try and tell them my name is Kes, I tend to stick with throwing out Aaron instead, a name which is common enough here to be recognised I would think. Apparently though, possibly due to our amazing accents, we have names that our American friends have a touch of trouble understanding. After ordering and being asked for my name (which I recited very clearly for the record), I was then given my receipt, which included the new Americanised version of my name – Eric. I laughed to myself and sat down, eager to see how the girl behind the counter would interpret Guri’s name. As you can see below, she was presented with Kerry.

Kerry & Eric…sound lovely don’t they? Here’s hoping they have a great life together.
